H. erwähnt, dass er mit dem Botaniker K. S. Kunth, der den botanischen Teil des Reisewerks bearbeitet, zusammenwohnt. Später schreibt H., er habe in Paris von 1810 bis 1827 mit Kunth in einer Wohnung zusammengelebt (Brief an G. von Cotta, 14.4.1850).
